The Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering Library is the joint specialist library of the TU Wien chemistry and mechanical engineering Institutes. Here you will find specialist literature for chemistry, technical chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, mechanical engineering and related fields, as well as current journals and numerous reference works. The initial consultation desk in the entrance area is manned throughout the opening hours.

Study desks

There are roughly 100 study desks available throughout the Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering Library as well as two bookable group study rooms, opens in new window.

Scanning

A3 book scanners are available in the scanner room near the large reading room on the 1st floor and in the textbook collection section on the 2nd floor. The scans can be saved to a USB stick. When dealing with digital documents, please observe copyright laws and our terms of use for e-resources.

There is also a ScanTent in the entrance area, where you can use your own devices such as smartphone, tablet or camera to take photos or make scans under ideal lighting conditions.

Catalogue terminals

There are four library terminals available for searching on the 1st floor, and another one in the textbook collection section on the 2nd floor.

How do I find the holdings of the Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering Library in CatalogPlus?

1. In CatalogPlus, opens an external URL in a new window, search for the desired term in the simple search field and then refine by "Library > Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering Library" in the left-hand menu.

2. Alternatively, under Advanced Search you can select "Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering Library" from the drop-down menu in the "Library" field and then enter your search terms in the left-hand fields.

Please contact the circulation desk. Lost property is stored in the library for a few days and then handed over to the lost property office.
